Daily Homework Assignments
Every day in class the students will write down their homework assignments in their daily planners. They are asked to check off or highlight each assignment once finished in their AVID planners. Parents are highly encouraged to sign off on completed homework in the daily planner. Each night the students will have math, reading, and spelling homework. They should only be spending 30-40 minutes max on non-reading homework. Students should try their best but DON'T STRESS because it's only practice!

30 Minutes of Reading
Every day after school your child needs to read 30 minutes or more. They can read by themselves, to you, to a friend or a sibling. After reading, you can ask comprehension questions or have them tell you about the chapter or a character.

Weekly Spelling List
Your child needs to complete spelling homework three nights per week. It will in the form of a packet called "Building Spelling Skills". On Thursday the students will take a pretest and if they pass, they will not have to take the test on Friday! If they do not pass, they have another chance to take the test on Friday.
